Get a Gripp

This week's example of an ignorant rant comes from what could be called paranoid Christianity.  It is from the Power of Prophecy, a site run by the "world famous" Texe Marrs, who takes on everything from the United Nations to people who don't use the right translation of the Bible, combining it all into one immense conspiracy theory.  The last part of the page is a reposting of an essay by Dr. Samuel Gripp, who seems to be just as much a crackpot as Marrs

Noted Bible scholar's sober assessment of their deadly behavior.

Or is it a deadly assessment of sober behavior?

Are environmentalists insane? Are they dangerous sociopaths who need to be locked away for their own good?

The Bible provides the answers. The Scriptures inform us that those "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature (nature, earth) more than the Creator" are vile people of "reprobate mind." (Romans 1:18:32).

Here Marrs "interprets" the Bible.  But "creature" does not mean "creatures" but to "images resembling mortal men or birds or animals or reptiles" (Romans 1:23), that is graven images.

Environmentalists, the Bible adds, are "filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, covetousness, maliciousness… murder… deceit, malignity." They are, the Bible continues, "backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things…"

The Bible does not mention environmentalists any more than it mentions nuclear weapons.  And no, environmentalists don't worship or serve nature.

God’s Word is truth. Therefore, as Christians, we must recognize that environmentalism is a doctrine of devils. Moreover, we know that the "wrath of God" is against those who practice wicked environmentalism. God has driven these God-haters into insanity and madness.

The following article by Dr. Samuel Gripp further explains these points. Dr. Gripp's stunning assertion is that, "Environmentalists are DESTROYERS. They build nothing and live to destroy the progress of others. They destroy dams, roads, and buildings. They need to be institutionalized."

Dr. Gripp, who has been my guest a number of times on the Power of Prophecy radio program, makes a valid point. If we judge environmentalists strictly by mental health standards, we must conclude that they are deluded, psychologically off, and very dangerous. They need treatment. Of course, Dr. Gripp and I would both agree that environmentalists can be cured of their severe mental illness. And a cure can be found short of their being treated by psychiatrists or being carted off to an insane asylum. The cure needed is not psychological but spiritual. That cure is Jesus. He alone can cure their spiritual sickness--if they will but repent and believe.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From many years of studying environmentalists, I have come to the conclusion that they are unyielding religious fanatics. They are also seriously mentally ill. This makes for a dangerous combination.

Seems like all the antis have sent years studying environmentalists.  Makes you wonder why they get almost everything wrong.

Their Religion

Their druid-like religious disposition is evident by their non-environment benefiting arguments. They want roads and dams destroyed because the environment needs to be "returned to pristine condition."

Dams and roads, in fact, cause a great deal of damage.  This is a recurring theme in "brownlash" literature, the environmentalists are not really interested in protecting the environment.  But the reality is that it is threatened.  (See Mark Reisner's Cadillac Desert for more on the damage done by dams.)

This is a religious conviction rather than a scientific fact. They show no mercy when hearing about an animal killing a person because they worship the animal and feel that the human’s actions have offered it a sacrifice. They see the earth as an object to be served and venerated rather than a well designed ball of dirt. They claim that cutting a tree down is murder because the tree is alive; yet they never carry this argument over to the lettuce in their salad.

This is complete nonsense.

When environmentalists speak of such things as: "Mother Earth," "Gaia," and "harmonic convergence," they are invoking religious ideals. Their fascination with crystals is also religion based. And, of course, their association with witchcraft is further testimony of religious rather than scientific roots.

"Mother Earth" does not reflect reflect religious ideals any more than talking about "Father Time" does.  "Gaia" was simply a name chosen for a scientific hypothesis, it does not have anything to do with worshiping an ancient goddess.  (And according to the hypothesis the earth can take care of itself without any help from environmental activists.)  I cannot remember any environmentalist talking about "harmonic convergence", let alone crystals or witchcraft.

The self-righteous satisfaction they derive from being the self-appointed "guardians" of nature is typical of any other religious fanatic who bases his righteousness on his works. Thus, every time an environmentalist forces us to obey his desires, he is "shoving his religion down our throats." When the government forces us to obey governmental laws, it is violating the "separation of church and state" by forcing us to worship according to the dictates of a state-sanctioned religion.

Hun?

Their Mental Illness

The mental illness of environmentalism manifests itself in three forms: Paranoid, Delusional, and Criminal insanities.

1. PARANOID INSANITY--This is the mildest form of the mental illness of environmentalism. Religious environmentalists live in a state of paranoia. They fear that they will ingest some "horrible chemical" in their food so they demand "organic" foods. They fear that cars are going to destroy the air (It’s cleaner than ever) so they do all they can to eliminate the private ownership of cars while they pridefully ride their bikes.

These people think that you can hurt dirt by walking on it. They want to close national parks to people. They are mentally ill. Their anti-social behavior creates problems for all who come in contact with them.

The harm is done to what lives in the dirt.  And walking on dirt leads to other problems like erosion, compaction and poor drainage.  And no one I have met wants to close national parks, although some of the "free market" types want to sell them to the highest bidder.

The paranoids want strict and strict environmental laws to force people to protect the earth. Higher gas prices, forced recycling, and federally protected insects are just some of the pet projects of these tortured minds.

2. DELUSIONAL INSANITY--This form of the mental illness that afflicts environmentalists is somewhat more severe than simple paranoia. The delusionists see the earth as sacred and feel it is their divine calling to defend it. Where the paranoids see chemicals, companies, and cars as the villain the delusionalists lay blame on all mankind.

They see mankind as a blight on the earth. They feel that nothing man does to protect the environment is enough. Actually, they are closet "humanity haters" and are always glad to hear when a wild animal has killed a human. Some famous delusionalists have stated that they felt the smallpox virus had a right to exist! (Yet, being ideologically dishonest liberals, they never carry this philosophy over to the AIDS virus.) They have actually longed for some virus to eliminate the human race so that the earth will no longer be "afflicted" by human parasites.

This form of mental illness of environmentalism is a warning sign of the last, most dangerous form.

3. CRIMINAL INSANITY--Environmentalists immerse themselves in the "horror" of human-caused "damage" to the earth and the "rightness" of their cause. Once their unstable minds have been subjected to the constant preaching of the environmental "gospel," they lose touch with reality and seek only to hurt and destroy.

Some have been known to release cattle and sabotage farm equipment. Others criminally destroy the clothing of someone wearing fur, regardless of their constitutional right to wear it. Some have "spiked" trees so that a logger’s chainsaw will hit the spike and hopefully kill him. These people are evil, merciless, and dangerous.

Those who release cattle and destroy furs are animal rights activists, not environmentalists.  Tree spiking, a practice that was stopped several years ago, was meant to protect trees, not to harm people.

What Should Be Done?

There are a number of ways to help those afflicted with the environmental illness--ways which can help them to successfully overcome their sickness.

INDIRECT METHODS--We can deal with environmentalists without directly interfering with their lives by resisting their attempts to force their will on us as individuals. By resisting their "orders" to recycle, refrain from driving, curtail use of natural resources and such, we free ourselves from their mental oppression. The mental illness of environmentalism causes those afflicted by it to become "power-mad."

Gee, why not go all out in opposition to environmentalists?  Turn off the air conditioner to simulate global warming.  Set up some sun lamps to simulate ozone depletion.  Dump some rotting garbage on the floor....

The more you submit to an environmentalist, the more unreasonable their demands become. You can deal with an environmentalist through "appeasement" about as well as Lloyd George did when he appeased Hitler and "prevented" World War II ("Peace in our time," the simpleton claimed.) By resisting and even publicly rebuking environmentalists, their overt tendencies are suppressed, and they can re-enter normal life.

Gripp apparently also fancies himself to be a historian.  But it was Neville Chamberlain who called for "Peace in our time."  Lloyd George actually opposed appeasement.

DIRECT METHODS--Since religious environmentalism is a mental disease, it must be treated like one. Those afflicted by the malady must be gathered into central locations and treated. They will require counseling, drug therapy, shock treatments, or whatever is necessary to restore their sanity and return them to being productive members of society. The state presently administers such treatments to other mentally ill citizens, even against their will. Therefore, there is hope for environmentalists.

LEGAL METHODS--Once the sick mind of an environmentalist forces him to cross the line to the realm outside the law, they are to be dealt with as are other criminals. These criminal environmentalists are, in fact, terrorists. They seek to achieve their goals by criminally terrorizing the general population.

Like any criminal, they have no regard for the rights or lives of their victims. Judges, no matter how liberal, owe it to the general public to protect us all from criminal environmentalists by sentencing them as they would any rapist or murderer. Judges should show no leniency or preference in dealing with them.

If their minds can be salvaged through mental treatments, environmentalists can return to society. If not, then the general public is safer with them incarcerated. The population of a nation is not to be held hostage by the mind of a crazy person.

Incidentally, mentally ill environmentalists working in the news media are to be treated as other environmentalists--counseling, drugs, or incarceration--whichever turns them back into normal people.

In summary, environmentalists can be saved from themselves if we but have the courage to act!
