Raising the Antis: "Correcting Anti-Environmental Myths" Website. A new web page devoted to exposing the propaganda of the anti-environmental lobby has made a splash, thanks to the work of its creator, Jim Norton. A CLEAR View wanted to know more...so we asked:
ACV: What spurred your interest in exposing the propaganda of the anti-environmental lobby?
JN: I first learned about mis-information about the environment in the discussion boards at AOL. I was amazed at the nonsense some people believed. I ran across more misinformation on the web. The last straw was a page called "Rush could be right" by Dr. Jack Stauder of the University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth (MA) available at the Alliance for America web site. [Ed. Note: Stauder spoke at the Alliance for America's Fly In with Michael Sanera. Stauder discussed environmental education "brainwashing" at the college level]
ACV: Why did you chose the web as your media?
JN: The web was the easiest place to get started. It also allows the largest audience of people interested in the subject. It also allows easy linking with other resources.
ACV: How do you obtain your material?
JN: One of the best sources is the references of the anti-environmental material itself. And I do a LOT of web surfing, plus library computer searches. Also read the message boards at AOL which often have good leads. And I check the web sites and magazines of environmental organizations.
ACV: Any future plans for the site?
JN: Right now the only plan is to continue to post more of the same.
